Up 8:30 am.
Coffee/breakfast.
Sat 15 min. Used a cushion.
12 p. Ashbery. 1 p. poetry notebook.
Bridge work 11:30-1:30. Slowly getting back into ch. 2; I’ve dallied too long.
Talked to Bree’s mom on Zoom for a while around 2. Put in another long sentence at the end of the intro so I wouldn’t forget it.
Spent 30-45 min. starting my Carnap response paper. I think I can do this, though it will take more hrs/day next week than I’d like.
Piano about 40 min - checked out another lesson, printed and played Horace Silver’s “Sister Sadie.”
A cousin called as I was about to tune into the Segue reading on Zoom; just family chat. Missed Edwin Torres, caught Ann Lauterbach’s chat while preparing beets, turnips, and rice grits with Bree. More palatable than that sounds.
Listened to audio of the Davis/Coltrane quartet from an SF gig, “So What” and one other tune, audio apparently put online so a collector could sell the only existing acetate.
Interesting, though you can only year horns and drums; if I could hear Paul Chambers and (especially) Wynton Kelly, I’d probably try to rip the audio.
Helped Bree clean up longer than usual; listened to a good, succinct Brazilian pop/hip-hop album by Flora Matos, which I got onto through a twitter follower. Particularly sold on “Me Ame Em Miami” and “I Love You.”
Spent 9-10 working out harmony exercises from the Schoenberg class. Fun syntactical exercise for me, a little like learning rules for wff in a formal language.
Walk outside at 10. Did Crossword, watched Thumbscrew’s Vanguard set.
Stayed up to read first 50 p. of Philippe Garnier, Scoundrels and Spitballers.
Lights out around 1.
Good day - hit a lot of projects, and spent time w/ Bree.
